海王星光环

1930年由美国天文学家汤博发现的冥王星曾被认为是行星

，但2006年8月24日召开的国际天文学联合会第26届大会，经两千余天文学家表决通过———太阳系只有八大行星，不再将传统九大行星之一的冥王星视为行星，而将其列入“矮行星[3]”。[1]

冥王星被排除在大行星之外的原因：

作为行星，要满足三个条件：

一、以近似圆形的轨道围绕恒星运转。

二、质量足够大，能依靠自身引力使天体呈圆球状。

三、能逐渐清除其轨道附近的天体。

冥王星对第三条不符，且冥王星的卫星（冥卫一）过于巨大，形成了双行星系统。根据这个定义，冥王星被除名为矮行星。柯伊伯带是处于海王星轨道以外的一个太空区域，在这个区域里，到处是冰冷、岩石状的天体。公认的太阳系理论认为，海王星轨道以外天体轨道分布应该是随机的，加上观测偏差，轨道半长轴接近150天文单位，轨道倾角几乎为0°，近日点辐角也要接近0°或者180°，在柯伊伯带已发现的卡戎星、阋神星、塞德娜等十多颗极端海外天体中的轨道半长轴相差极大（介于150天文单位和525天文单位之间），轨道倾角的平均值约为20°，近日点辐角则是–31°，没有任何一个天体接近180°。这些星体的轨道参数似乎受到其他星体的影响，在海王星和冥王星以外可能还有其他未知的行星。2015年，美国的两位科学家在奥尔特云中发现了一颗矮星行星，名为2012vp113。两位发现者认为，它的轨道可能受到一颗又黑又冰的超级地球的影响，它的大小可以达到地球的10倍。[4]
